Transparency You Can Trust

At Aldevia Jewelry, transparency isn’t optional — it’s the foundation of everything we do.

All of our lab-grown diamonds are independently graded by internationally recognized gemological laboratories, including IGI (International Gemological Institute) and GIA (Gemological Institute of America).

These certifications verify:

  • Carat weight

  • Color grade

  • Clarity grade

  • Cut quality

  • Polish and symmetry

  • Fluorescence

Each grading report also includes detailed information such as the certificate number, diamond shape, exact measurements, and a plotted diagram of the stone.

Lab-grown diamonds are graded using the exact same standards as natural diamonds. The only difference is origin — not quality.

IGI VS GIA: What’s the Difference?

Both IGI and GIA are highly respected diamond grading institutions, but they play slightly different roles in today’s market.

IGI

IGI is one of the world’s largest independent gemological laboratories and has become a leading authority in lab-grown diamond certification.

It was among the first to grade lab-grown diamonds and currently handles a significant portion of the global lab-grown diamond supply. IGI developed reporting formats specifically for lab-grown diamonds, and today it is the most commonly seen certification in the U.S. lab-grown diamond retail market.

GIA

GIA is widely regarded as the gold standard in diamond grading. It established the modern 4Cs grading system and is known for its strict consistency.

GIA’s primary focus has traditionally been natural diamonds, followed by lab-grown diamonds. It is often considered more conservative in color and clarity grading, which is why high-value natural diamonds are frequently certified by GIA.

A simple way to understand the difference:
GIA is the academic authority that created the rules.
IGI is the commercial expert that powers much of today’s lab-grown diamond market.

Why Certification Matters When Buying a Lab-Grown Diamond

A grading report is not a marketing document. It is a professional technical evaluation conducted by trained gemologists using calibrated equipment.

In the lab-grown diamond industry, third-party verification is especially important. Because supply is controlled and scalable, pricing without certification can become subjective.

Certification helps prevent “grade inflation,” such as:

  • Overstated color grades

  • Overstated clarity grades

  • Vague or unclear descriptions of cut quality

When purchasing online, you cannot evaluate grading details with the naked eye. A certification report serves as objective proof.

What About Smaller Carat Diamonds?

In today’s market:

  • 0.30–0.49ct lab-grown diamonds (some brands do not provide certification)

  • 0.50–0.99ct lab-grown diamonds (some brands provide certification)

  • 1ct and above (almost always independently certified)

Certified = Third-party verified
Not certified = Based solely on the seller’s representation

For online purchases, certification significantly increases confidence and transparency. At Aldevia Jewelry, every standard center stone includes a digital or printed grading report to ensure complete transparency.

If you would like certification for a smaller carat lab-grown diamond, we’re happy to arrange it for you. Additional laboratory fees will apply. Please feel free to contact our service team at: service@aldeviajewelry.com
